Privacy policy

Last updated 30 October 2026.

Cipher Evolution is run by Trend Enterprises Limited, New Zealand. We collect as little as we can, and we follow the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

Player details. When you first adopt a character we create a player record: a random player id, a scrambled copy of your player key, the public name shown next to your characters, and the characters you own.

Payment details. Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe gives us your email address, the amount and whether the payment succeeded. We never see your card number. Stripe's own privacy policy covers what it holds.

In your browser. Your player key is stored in your browser's local storage so the site knows which characters are yours. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and there is no third-party analytics on this site.

Server logs. Our host, Cloudflare, keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to run and protect the service.

What is public

Character names, their traits, their family trees and the public name of their owner are visible to everyone. Your email address and player key are never shown.

How we use it

To run the game, to send or answer receipts and support requests, and to prevent fraud. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.

Where it is kept

On Cloudflare's network and in Stripe, which may store data outside New Zealand. We keep player and purchase records for as long as your account exists and as long as the law requires for financial records.

Your rights

You can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you, or ask us to delete your account, by emailing hello@cipherevolution.com. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
